                   PP1 Track

                Track Description

An upbeat type of song split into 2 different parts. Can be used for two different scenes in an action show, end credits and for musical use for Hip Hop and R&B artists. Nothing really inspired me making this. I just put some things together, trial and error, and tried to stay in one place and not go everywhere with the track.

The whole track is in 4/4, but in two different keys. The first half is in B minor and the second half is in C# Major. I’m a drummer, so when it comes to putting drums on a beat, I want to make it the heart of the whole thing. It is the foundation of the song. Everything else goes on top. The bass I blended with the harmony and the drums so it plays to the beat precisely while also helping bring more sound to the harmony.

The key of the piece is both B minor (first half) and C# Major (second half). The chords of the first half are Bm, Em, F#m, and G. The chords of the second half are D#m, C#, F#, G#, and A#m. I wanted to start of the track with a question and end off with a resolution. I don’t always like to make tracks that sound happy and jolly. I want it to grab your attention and lead you to keep on listening.

The audio tracks were the most challenging to make because I didn’t want to catch or make anything that would sound completely off from the rest of the track, but I am satisfied with what I came up with (Space Claps and Taps) Space Claps I grabbed from Apple Loops and just renamed it while Taps follows its name; I was tapping on my laptop and came up with that. For tracks #8 and 9, I took the Harmony and Bass and used ES 1 and ES 2 on them.

                    PP2 Track

My best cue from this month was my hip hop cue. It took the most time, but I enjoyed every minute of making it. I am a fan of hip hop and am working on becoming a rapper/producer for this genre of music, so this made the process of creating this cue a lot more engaging. Drumming comes the easiest to me since I have been drumming for about six years. Therefore, I did the drums first. Next, I did the harmony and melody. These I kind of struggled with since they had to be done in a minor key because usually that is how they are in hip hop. Also, I am still new to playing the keyboard, but I as you can see, I pulled through. Then, I did the piano bass and bass. I wanted to add more energy to the piece and the piano notes I was playing were in a lower octave and sounded like a substitute for the bass. However, I didn’t want to leave out the actual bass so I kept them both to help assist each other, bringing more of a drive to the cue and of course, adding energy. The drums I felt needed some more attention and the intro could use more of a build, so I added a hi hat and some snare rolls to help with that and assist in making transitions to the next phrase. However, the intro was still missing something, so to add to the harmony in the beginning, I added a synth lead to give it more of a “ooh didn’t see that coming, but I like it” type of vibe.

We all have different stories (7)

Long or short some not as sweet (7)

Tryna get to where we wanna be (9)

Instead of this, we fight for money (9)

This changes you entirely (8)

Mentally and physically (8)

Thought life was easy like a baby (9)

Until you get hit with reality (10)

[Chorus}

Had it hard from the get go (7)

But put me anywhere I will grow (10)

Won’t stop me no (4)

[Verse 2]

People dying (4)

Getting shot here and there (6)

Making me wonder (5)

If I’ll make it out of here (7)

Lots of things on my mind (6)

Just like who will stand by my side (8)

Don’t wanna just be getting by (8)

Wanna be great, wanna be alright (9)

Some are trying to make it (6)

No matter what it takes (6)

Others try to fake it (6)

Regardless of what’s at stake (7)

Ups and downs highs or lows (6)

Nothing will stop my growth (6)

Anywhere I go (5)

I will spread my petals (6)

[Chorus}

Had it hard from the get go (7)

But put me anywhere I will grow (10)

Won’t stop me no (4)
